Greenlake Vigil
Photos from the vigil and ceremony at Greenlake on Sunday, September 12 in honor of the more than 1,000 US soldiers and over 12,000 Iraqi civilians lost in the war. The vigil was sponsored by Sound Nonviolent Opponents of War (SNOW), Veterans for Peace, and Evergreen Peace and Justice Community
Over 1,000 crosses were exhibited near Greenlake; each cross represented a U.S. soldier whose life has been lost in Iraq.
Participants wrote out the names of the soldiers who have died and attached them to the crosses.
Many people brought flowers to honor the loss of life, both American and Iraqi.
People gathered together for a short ceremony.
Abe Osheroff spoke briefly about the importance and joy of working for peace.
Alyssa Castro sang a song she wrote, "Through My Eyes," about September 11.
