Meeting Notes - January 4, 2003

1/4 meeting of neighborhood group; 9-10:30 am at Gunnel Clark and Abe Osteroff's home.

Present: Tom Swenson-Healey, Judy Dausdill, Nancy Ito, Marie Guise, Barbara Phinney,, John Whitton, George Lindsay, Charles Cressey, Vicki Bodine, Elaine Hickman, Gunnel Clark and Abe Osteroff.

1. Gunnel spoke about the bannering effort on Aurora on Sundays 12:30-1:30. More people are needed. Nancy offered to call our neighborhood list. Broadview UCC Church is willing to help staff the 130th overpass. Others are working the 100th and Woodland Park Aurora overpasses. Barbara will contact the Phinney group about helping work the Woodland Park overpass in the future. Abe suggested using stencils and phosphorescent (sp?) paint so our banners are useful day/night. Barbara gave a No War banner to Charles to use at 130th.

2. Discussion of sponsoring some bus signs (@ $140/sign). This a SNOW project. The group was interested but did not collect money.

3. Decision to purchase 50 No Iraq War signs from the printer for $50 to distribute in the neighborhood and sell on Sundays. $50 was collected from the group. Tom agreed to obtain the signs. Gunnel will make the stakes.

4. Discussion about affiliating with SNOW-the group decided to affiliate. Everyone present accepted the SNOW Points of Agreement. The group decided to rearrange our name to North Seattle-Broadview, Greenwood, Haller Lake, Northgate. Gunnel will make the change on the SNOW website and remain the primary neighborhood contact. Local-sub-group contacts are as follows: Haller Lake-Gunnel, Broadview-Judy, Greenwood-Nancy, Northgate-?

5. Tom agreed to sign on to the SNOW neighborhood list serve to keep abreast of activities/discussion related to other neighborhoods. Elaine attends the weekly SNOW organizing meetings.

6. Jan 18 Potluck beginning at 6 pm. After some discussion, the group agreed to site the potluck at Broadview Church (325 N. 125th) in order to energize our neighborhood group. Gunnel and Marie will collaborate on making a flyer which will be taken door-to-door as much as possible. Gunnel will follow up with the community potluck organizer to utilize resources they are offering. The commitments were made for day-of needs: set-up-Tom, George; clean-up-Tom and Judy, drinks-Charles and ?; speaker-Abe, live music-Judy.

7. Next meeting: Sat. 1/11 at 9 am at Gunnel and Abe's (N 128th and Meridian-Haller Lake)
