Notes from Saturday, May 17 meeting:

There were concerns about the wording of the summary sent from last Saturday's discussion - it may not have been presented in as balanced a manner as the discussion was. Abe has sent a clarification to the list.

Abe Osheroff will present his film, Dreams & Nightmares, at the Shoreline Community College Day of Reflection on Weds. May 28th.

We now have large quantities of the Doug Rokke tape (on depleted uranium). This is an edited 30-minute version, and we will be able to distribute them for free or very cheaply, so we should look for opportunities where they will be used. The first step is to get them into the libraries. We will need labels and stickers for them.

Educational discussion on Israel and Palestine: the discussion we had at last Saturday's meeting was very valuable to those of us who participated, so we are planning to hold a larger event for the community. Abe will present an overview of the background of the conflict, and Tom will offer his experiences as a witness for peace in Palestine. We are planning it for the third week in June - probably the 18th or 19th. We will need a venue that can hold up to 100 people or so.

Promotion of the Isreal-Palestine talk: We will develop a flier (ideally, in both color and black & white) and distribute them in cafes, post on poles, etc. We will also make plans to get it to local media (public radio, weekly papers, etc.)

New discussion list: Janet has agreed to be the owner of the new discussion e-mail listserv we have kicked around for awhile. This will be a place for ongoing discussion of peace-related issues and local goings-on. Stay tuned for more information.
