Notes from meeting 11/29/03:

Attendance: Abe, Catherine, Eric, Gunnel, Janet, Tom

Israel/Palestine Roadshow Feedback:

Explore more history of Israeli-Palestinian conflict next time. Suggestion made that Eric, as emcee, conduct more structured guidance of audience. Eric will announce monitoring at next gathering. We will use a watch/clock to keep track of each person's sharing next time, then sound a bell when person exceeds allotted time. Abe requested more time to speak so that he could provide more detailed history of the conflict. Eric suggested providing historical timeline on the back of map handouts.

West Seattle group enjoyed presentation but felt that it needed to be more focused. They invited our group to conduct the "Roadshow" on 01/25/04 from approximately 2 - 4 PM. Media tip: some audience members learned of the Roadshow through flyers posted on telephone poles. Music was a great addition--we will ask West Seattle SNOW if they would like to provide musicians for the 01/25 Roadshow. Our group would like to invite the Palestinian audience member in attendance to participate on the panel. Gunnel suggested that we ask West Seattle to provide a slide projector for an enlarged viewing of the West Bank wall. Eric was willing to provide West Seattle with our pre-formatted flyer if they would like to use it.

PATRIOT Act Update:

Two Dems still not on board: Julia Patterson and Larry Phillips. Encourage friends and neighbors to call and e-mail them, ask them to approve the Resolution!!!

SNOW Fundraising Idea:

Gunnel presented idea of using peace dove logo on Christmas cards on t-shirts. Group voted on production of 50 t-shirts for sale at $15 each (green, medium blue, maroon/burgundy and black).

Distribute flyers alerting people to contact KC Council Members Julia Patterson and Larry Phillips to pass the USA PATRIOT Act Resolution. Flyer will contain contact info for KC Council Members. Ask people to thank Cynthia Sullivan for co-sponsoring Resolution, Edmonds, Pelz, Constantine and Gossett for pledging "yes" on the Resolution. Ask all Republicans to support the Resolution. Eric will create a sign to publicize t-shirts and X-mas cards.
