Home - Events - Signs - Links - About - Contact Notes from meeting 8/7/04:Attending: Charles, Tom S-H, Judy, Eric, Gunnel, Abe, Kay, George, Janie,
Rachel, David, Greg, and Phyllis. Announcements:Bush will be in town this Friday, August 13 for a fundraiser and SNOW will be welcoming him with banners. To get involved, contact Tom at organizer@snowcoalition.org Next Peace Potluck and meeting: Saturday, September 11, at Gunnel and Abe's, 2100 N 128th. BanneringBannering has been going well, 12:30 - 2:00 pm each Sunday. Please join us - it's very empowering and good to keep a strong presence out there. If you are able to make it, try to get there at 12:30 since sometimes people have trickled in and it's uncertain at first if there will be enough (we always get a better response when there are more people). TablingWe have been tabling at PCC on Aurora each Thursday evening, and it has been going well. We have been registering voters (or helping with change of address), getting signatures on the Iraq petition, and getting donations for bumper stickers and buttons. The reception has been excellent, with customers going out of their way to thank us even if they are already registered and not really interested in our info. Tabling schedule for the next month:
Voter registration at HempfestThere has been a request for help registering voters at Hempfest the weekend of Aug. 21 - 22. A number of us agreed to help. We will coordinate schedules via e-mail. Those who signed up include Eric, Tom, Kay, and Gunnel. Movie night: OutFoxedWe have two movies to show, OutFoxed and Peace, Propaganda and the Promised Land. We made tentative plans to hold a public showing of Outfoxed on Friday, Aug. 27, 7:30 at the Broadview Community Church of Christ if we can get permission to use the facility. Charles will ask the Pastor, Dan, if we can hold it there. We should also be able to borrow the projector from Wallingford since their Meaningful Movies are on vacation for the month. We would also like a speaker on media-related issues. Rachel knows of a good speaker (a UW professor) whose specialty is war propaganda. She will try to contact him to see if he would be available. NW Social ForumThere is still interest in participating in the NW Social Forum parade/march, but we do not have much more info except that it is expected to happen the weekend of October 16. Still no agreement on our theme if we participate - we discussed two previous ideas, windmills (symbolizing renewable energy) and national costumes (symbolizing unity) but came to no conclusion. There is some interest in the possibility of making large paper-mache costumes if it fits our theme. Eric offered the use of an art studio for costume construction and several members have sewing machines they could use to assist. We may get more info after a SNOW general meeting Weds. Aug 11.
