Membership and Committees
Membership:
You can join our group two ways: if you subscribe to our list serve you'll be a member of NSNPJ. Members are also asked for an annual membership contribution of $10 and up.
Decision Making:
To be able to vote on important issues like new programs, money matters etc, members will be required to have shown commitment to the group by attending at least three meetings and are expected to pay an annual membership fee. We offer a reduced-rate membership or allow a certain number of volunteer hours to substitute for the fee, if member cannot afford the fee.
Otherwise we encourage participation in discussions and minor decisions.
Coordinating Committee:
The five member CC is elected by the voting membership for a term of one year.
The CC takes care of the day-to-day business of the group and makes logistical or housekeeping decisions. It sets the agenda for meetings, takes turns to facilitate meetings, takes notes, decides on expenditures etc.
Chair: Moderates list serve and chairs meetings.
Secretary: Serves as the web master, take notes at meetings and post the minutes on the web.
Treasurer: Keeps books and tracks membership.
Two members at large: Helps with tasks as needed.

Additional committees can be created as needed, and would be given a certain level of autonomy.
Program Committees:
Oil Conservation: working on reducing our neighborhoods' dependence on oil and other fossil fuels, since we will see more and more conflict over energy in the coming years.
Counter-recruiting / Draft resistance: working in our neighborhoods and high schools to help kids get a more balanced view of what military service entails.
