Yankee Doodle Verses
Foreign policy, imperiialism:
Yankee Doodle bombed Iraq
The pretexts all were phony.
Now he's handing out contracts
To all of his old cronies.
Chorus:
Yankee doodle, stay on top,
Yankee doodle, righteous.
The laws do not apply to us
'Cause we're by far the mightiest.
Hitler's propagandist said
People all despise war.
But if you scare them bad enough
They'll have a cause to fight for.
Chorus:
Yankee Doodle made us fear
Weakened, starved Iraqis.
Suddenly we waved the flag
And donned our boots and khakis.
Yankee Doodle always claims
To be altruistic.
But oftentimes the end result
Is more monopolistic.
Chorus:
Yankee Doodle, get your way,
Yankee Doodle, clever.
Bend and twist the truth to keep
Your hands on power's lever.
If Yankee Doodle can control
Supply and price of oil,
He'll stifle other countries' growth
To keep those subjects loyal.
Yankee Doodle sent a message
To oil-selling nations:
"Failure to submit to us
Is risking an invasion."
Yankee Doodle sought permission
For war that was illicit.
He manufactured our consent
Which made us all complicit.
If Yankee Doodle can control
Oil prices and supply,
He'll dictate all the world's rules,
And force all to comply.
Yankee Doodle beat Iraq
Offering liberation.
Ha ha, fooled you, he just brought
Colonial occupation.
Yankee Doodle went to Baghdad
A scheme for corporate profits.
He bombed the people of Iraq
To line his buddies' pockets.
Yankee Doodle went to London
Met his buddy Tony.
Called on Jacques and Vladimir
But they said it's baloney.
A lanky poodle lives in London
He's Bush's not the voters'.
He makes up evidence when told
And barks at Gerhard Schroeder.
Yankee Doodle went to war
Against a disarmed nation.
Now we see it was for oil
And world domination
Yankee Doodle went to help
Iraqi liberation.
Do you suspect the ones helped most
Are global corporations?
Yankee Doodle broke the law
With unprovoked aggression.
Can we evolve past "might makes right"
And punish this transgression?
Yankee Doodle favors war.
It's his preferred solution;
It helps the weapons industry
And campaign contributions.
Yankee Doodle likes to play
With missiles, planes and bombs.
Too bad collateral damages
Are other people's Moms.
Yankee Doodle wants to save
Our precious way of life.
He's sorry that the world must pay
With pollution, war and strife.
Yankee Doodle lusts for more
Than Genghis Khan or Caesar.
Iraq's conquest has only been
A prelude to more seizures.
Yankee Doodle brought regime change,
Then installed a puppet.
Should that one ever stray, we'll be
Back to interrupt it.
"Yankee Doodle
Superpower
Has the wrong idea
Oil is a problem
Not a panacea"
Domestic policy:
A. Tax cuts:
Yankee Doodle likes the rich.
Now he's cut their taxes,
Ignoring all the needs we have,
Forgetting what the facts is.
B. Civil liberties:
Yankee Doodle wants to know
Everything you're doing:
The books you check out, what you buy,
The websites you are viewing.
Yankee Doodle calls it "terror"
Depending on conditions,
Like the color of your skin and
Political positions.
Yankee Doodle hates dissent;
Says, "That's not patriotic."
We say, "If you crush dissent,
Your reign is quite despotic."
Yankee Doodle's henchman Ashcroft
Hates us for our freedoms.
As for First Amendment rights,
He doesn't think we need 'em.
Yankee Doodle wants to rule
The world and thinks he'll try it.
The only thing he needs for that
Is "we the people" quiet.
C. Environment:
Yankee Doodle swells with pride
At how much we're consuming.
He just ignores the dying earth
And global warming looming.
Yankee Doodle wants to sell
To anyone who wants it
Our water, forests, children's minds...
He's crass and even flaunts it.
Yankee Doodle wants you to
Consume more than your neighbor,
Take a rest, make do with less,
And do your health a favor
D. News media:
What Yankee Doodle likes the most
is duped and docile minions.
Watch network TV news programs
For corporate opinions.
What Yankee Doodle fears the most :
Informed and active minions.
Seek out varied news outlets
For multiple opinons.
Yankee Doodle likes the news
On every TV station
Since facts and objectivity
Have taken a vacation.
E. Elections, democracy.
Yankee Doodle made the world
Safer for hypocrisy.
Let's take back our government
And have a real democracy
Yankee Doodle rules the land
For major corporations.
It's time for rules that benefit
The human population.
Yankee Doodle started with
A rich man's revolution.
It's time for more equality,
An American evolution.
Yankee Doodle always says,
"Let's listen to the voters"
He's listening to you, of course,
But more to General Motors
Yankee Doodle has declared
That money equals speech.
But having true democracy
Means equal voice to each.
"Yankee Doodle
gave the store
to the highest donors
He forgot that We the People
are the lawful owners."
"Yankee Doodle gets an "F"
in the history subject
Ruome gained an empire
but lost their Republic."
